Bankstown Hospital
The NSW Government has committed $2 billion for a state-of-the art new Bankstown Hospital, expected to include new acute services such as:
- Emergency department
- Operating theatres
- Intensive care
- Services for women and children including maternity care
- Mental health
- Other services
- Parking
The new hospital will be built in the Bankstown city centre, close to bus and train services, and the new Metro and will be located on Chapel Road Bankstown.
This will deliver new contemporary working environments and create new employment opportunities through an increased capacity for research, education and training.
What's happening on site:
- Sunday 8 March 2026, TAFE NSW car park on French Ave is closing for demolition.

Demolition starting early 2026.

New electricity substation:
As part of the early works for the new Bankstown Hospital, we are planning to install a new electrical substation, also known as an electrical kiosk, outside the existing TAFE NSW.
Subject to approval, we expect the work to begin early 2026.
If you live close to the new hospital site, we will be in touch with you in early 2026 to confirm the installation dates and work times, and any local impact such as temporary changes to footpaths.
